BOOM Performance:
MacKenzie England –
“sit like a lady:” Dance

“sit like a lady” is a personal reflection of femininity and its influence on relationships throughout my life. When creating this piece, I looked to phrases I heard throughout my childhood and examined them through my perspective as an adult.

MacKenzie England is a Charlotte based dancer and choreographer. Growing up, she studied under Sadie Roberts-Doughten, Melissa “MJ” Jackson, and Cheryl Klaft. She went on to continue her education in dance at Marymount Manhattan College, where she graduated in three years with honors and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Post graduation, she has had the opportunity to perform works by Renay Aumiller, Yin Yue (for the CDF Ensemble), and Melissa “MJ” Jackson, among others.

MacKenzie has been a company member of Baron Dance for the past three years, where she has been able to work as a dancer and choreographer. She is excited to be presenting her first work with BOOM this Spring!
