The work is handmade rugs focusing on black artists and figures that have influenced Tuft Call throughout her life. For example: Lauryn Hill, Malcom X, Sade, Frank Ocean, etc. Each one has had a major influence by making her feel comfortable in blackness in different ways and helping her understand that being black is not a monolith. She makes these rugs in her house with a tufting gun.
Adrianna Brown originally started making rugs about a year and a half ago. She was looking for a new art form to express her thoughts and didn’t know where to start. One day she came across an artist of the name CurrieGOAT on Youtube who made handmade rugs. From that moment it sparked her creativity and she began her journey of making handmade rugs. She is still fairly new to tufting and has only made a few rugs but hopes to keep creating!
