Welcome to Boom Charlotte, where the sounds of Brazil are coming to life with the Ondas do Brazil performance! This show is a celebration of the rich and diverse culture of Brazil, paying homage to the indigenous and African roots of Samba and Capoeira. Leading the performance is curator Jah Freedom, who will take you on a journey through the waves of Brazil with the North Carolina Brazilian Arts Project. This talented group of musicians, dancers, and martial artists will showcase the beauty and vibrancy of Brazilian culture through their stunning performances.
As the music starts to play, you’ll be transported to the streets of Brazil, where the rhythm of Samba will move your body and soul. The dancers will show off their skills, their hips swaying to the beat of the drums as they bring the traditional movements of Capoeira to life. Throughout the show, the North Carolina Brazilian Arts Project will also teach you about the history and significance of these cultural practices, giving you a deeper understanding of the rich heritage of Brazil. You’ll learn about the role of music, dance, and martial arts
The mission of the NC Brazilian Arts Project (NCBAP) is to enrich our community with African Brazilian movement art forms such as Samba, Capoeira, Maculelê, and percussion. NCBAP hopes to promote cultural exchange, build healthy communities, instill joy, and foster inclusivity via the offering of community performances, professional performances, classes, workshops, and events.
