BOOM Charlotte is an annual arts festival that champions creative risk-taking and artistic freedom. As Charlotte’s premier fringe festival, BOOM amplifies independent artists across theater, dance, music, poetry, and visual arts.
Each year, the festival transforms the city into a vibrant showcase of boundary-pushing performances and immersive experiences. This year we are in University City at The Shoppes at University City Place, 8931 J M Keynes Dr, Charlotte, NC 28262 from April 25-27.
BOOM fosters community engagement by creating accessible, inclusive spaces where artists and audiences connect through bold storytelling and experimental works. Whether you’re discovering emerging talent or experiencing avant-garde performances, BOOM Charlotte is where creativity ignites, making it a must-attend event for culture lovers and curious minds alike.
BOOM consists of two distinct parts: BOOM Fringe and BOOM Intersection :
BOOM allows for the freedom to flow between Fringe and Intersection easily. The goal is to encourage people to explore the arts in a single walkable setting.
BOOM was started by a group of Charlotte artists in 2016. The BOOM festival quickly grew into one of the largest, most diverse, multidisciplinary creative gatherings in Charlotte. Featuring all mediums from chalk art to classical music, from aerial dance to slam poetry, it became the unique coming together of the whole creative ecosystem of Charlotte.
