“Draw and Flow – Kolam Art: Ritual of Gratitude and Presence” is an interactive, live floor art experience rooted in the ancient South Indian tradition of Kolam. Using rice flour and vibrant colors, I will create intricate, sacred geometric patterns that symbolize harmony, interconnection, and the rhythm of life. Audience members are invited to participate, adding their own marks to the evolving design, embodying the communal spirit of creativity and gratitude.
Umayal Annamalai is a mixed-media artist, muralist, and facilitator whose work explores the intersections of ritual, embodiment, and transformation. Deeply inspired by her Tamil heritage and the sacred art of Kolam, she weaves color, pattern, and symbolism to honor ancestral wisdom while reimagining pathways to creative liberation. Through paintings, public art, and interactive experiences, she invites others to embrace art as a practice of presence, gratitude, and communal harmony.
