The purpose of the HeartArt SELF Portrait Series is to create a version of ourselves that we can view as our best selves. With the focus of the process being around Social Emotional Learning, it allows the student to not focus on having abilities like realism but more about using their skill level and emotions to create themselves, by using the collaging technique. When people view the piece, or even themselves, they are able to capture the essence of the person as a whole and not just physical attributes. The final product is a Self Portrait.
SoulArtBeauty Creative Academy is a youth art academy that is focused on connecting children’s creativity to their mental health journeys while building on their personal interests and talents. Allowing them to create freely around topics of everyday life (making friends, difficulties in school, self confidence) enables them to connect to the most honest versions of themselves. The classes teach self encouragement and reflection as well as taking that into the community and building with one another, while they can also explore different artistic skills, mediums, and topics that students can use in their portfolios in the future.
