Cybersyn is an electroacoustic collaboration between MOD and electronic composer/laptop musician Seth Andrew Davis that explores the cybernetic relationship between machines and humans. Adapted for saxophone quartet and interactive electronics, Cybersyn deconstructs traditional parameters of musical performance in favor of facilitating an open dialectical environment whereby human musicians and computer agents interact freely and contribute equally. This results in a feedback system across the entire ensemble as acoustic and electronic elements feed into each other, generating a perpetual loop of novel and immersive sound design.
MOD is an innovative chamber ensemble based in Charlotte, NC. Formed in 2024, they have been featured performers on the Charlotte SHOUT! and BOOM Fringe Festivals, and have collectively performed in venues including Lincoln Center, MASS MoCA, Sheen Center for Thought and Culture, and the Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy. Members of MOD have been awarded the Gold Medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music, First Prize in the MTNA Young Artist Solo Competition, and have received funding from the North Carolina Arts Council, Arts and Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, City of Charlotte, Infusion Fund, and Foundation For The Carolinas.
