Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works Dance – “Coming Up For Air: ” Dance
Dancers responding to a year of isolation, demonstrations and affirmations.
“Coming Up For Air” is the result of a year and a half of planning with Charlotte Art League and dancers, choreographers, and visual artists from throughout the North Carolina who are featured in video and live works.
The immersive event includes a visual art installation in partnership with Charlotte Art League/Building Bridges Project, The installation showcases murals created on panels of plywood used during 2020’s BLM protests in Uptown Charlotte.
Choreographers then created works in response to the images within these murals. The life works pack a powerful punch. Created by Martha Conneron and represented in short videos.
Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works Dance fosters awareness and appreciation of dance as an art form that impacts lives in a direct, positive, and evolving process. Since 2001, Kinetic Works has forged partnerships with arts groups, artists, and community organizations to bring visceral experiences to audiences of all ages and demographics.
