Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works’ appearances at BOOM Festival are a preview for our upcoming performances on May 3 and 4 at Open Door Studios. We will be presenting original works by Alexander Winder Lieberman and Elijah Motley. Visit our website at www.mckineticworks.org for seat reservations.

Eli Motley – “I’m only going to tell you this one more time” – A prolonged frustration. Frustration that lives with the person, showing itself when it’s least expected. This work is an excerpt of a larger work that will be presented at the 2025 NC Choreography Residency.

Alexander Windner Lieberman – “Wirelessly Transmitted Diseases” – Surveilled is an immersive solo dance performance that explores surveillance culture and media addiction in the digital age. Real-time video projections of the audience are cast onto set pieces and costumes, blurring the line between observer and observed. The piece combines movement, design, and technology to create a thought-provoking, sensory experience.

BIO

The North Carolina Choreographers Residency Project is produced by Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works with partial funding from the Arts and Science Council. It was begun in 2023 to support dance artists in the creation of original works and to provide peer support and mentoring in the process. Four choreographers are selected each year by a panel of peers in the field. They receive 40 hours of rehearsal time at Kinetic Works studio, a $4500 production budget, video and photo documentation, and their works are produced at Open Door Studios. The project also provides paid work for Charlotte based independent dancers.
