The Griffin Elite Dance Company expects to showcase “The Power of Dance.” Dance is strong, passionate and empowering to us all, and it transforms lives and society. The dancers have the superpowers to use the fundamentals of movement to create change, communicate ideas and persuade others to examine their views and values. Dance nurtures imagination and creativity, and it also lays the groundwork for addressing the challenges and possibilities in our ever-changing world.
The Griffin Elite Dance Company of Fairfield Central High School was established in 2010 under the direction of a veteran dance educator Melissa McCrary. The company is comprised of 9th-12th grade students committed to sharing their love of dance with their peers and community. The Company has performed at the SC State House for Arts Advocacy Day, the SC Dance Association Festival Gala Performance, within the community, at their school and at district performances to advocate for the arts in their schools and communities.
The Griffin Elite Dance Company also sponsors a high school chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Their graduates move forward to various college programs and careers in dance and dance education.
