Mall Goth: Music & Theater

Akin to a 35 minute Rocky Horror Picture Show, Mall Goth is a magical and absurd musical theater love letter to goth culture from some Carolina punks.

Imagine black box theater imitating a B-movie, slasher flick with a killer soundtrack, Mall Goth follows an eponymous folk hero on his journey to attain self-realization and philosophical victory over his moralizing mother, the school principal, his stepdad, and other disturbing incarnations of the dangerous banality of Middle America.

Episode 8:
Goth At A Gas Station

Desperate for cash, Mall Goth begrudgingly takes a job as a city code inspector. At first it seems all that’s at stake is a few misplaced trash cans and a city-owned Oldsmobile Cutlass, but he is soon ushered into benighted corridors of municipal power he could have scarce imagined. Will Mall Goth become a pawn in the mayor’s plan to turn his hometown into a putrescent wasteland of yogurt parlors, crossfit gyms, and over-priced baby clothing stores? Or will he successfully defend the city’s last goth outpost – a dilapidated service station known as ‘the pit’ – from the rising tide of gentrification?
